Have you been wielding a broom or a mop in a deep cleaning session recently? As much as a neat person you might be, missing a spot happens to the best of us.

If you loathe the possibility of a corner left unclean, in this article we will share with you a few spots that often get neglected during a cleaning session.

1. Under and behind heavy furniture

Whether the dimensions of your wardrobe do not allow for easy access to the space behind it, or you have a full season’s worth of clothes stacked under your bed, heavy furniture often gets overlooked during cleaning sessions.

Moving around or decluttering contents of or under heavy furniture is easily on the top of the list of places to revisit next time you tackle the cleanness of your home. The stuff you can find piled up in these places when the time for cleaning comes can easily leave you stunned.

2. Windowsills, doorframes and baseboards

These elements are not that easy to spot, however, they play a big role in outlining the room design choices you have made for your home. Leaving them covered in dust could ruin the look of your room for your visitors. Since you are used to the environment of your home, though, you can often forget to clean them, simply because it is very tough to notice their call for sanitisation.

3. Under appliances

While a bad smell or an ugly spill can alert you that your appliance is long overdue for a cleaning, grime accumulated under it can stay well out of sight for a while. Crumbs and dust bunnies formed while you were sweeping the floor around, could easily go under any appliance.

4. Shelves and stands

Either of those is often occupied with books, TVs, some type of a collection or many, many other possible contents. These items could easily conceal the tons of dust that can pile all over them. Getting rid of dust, especially if you have books stored on your shelves is very important to preserve them.

5. Bathroom tiling and walls

Especially if your bathroom has no decent ventilation, mould and mildew can start growing, ruining the look of your bathroom and making it unhealthy for you. It is important to check at least twice a month for any signs of either of those, leave the door open for a bit after showering, even if you are using a shower cabin, and try to mop up any excess moisture, to avoid unhealthy growths in the room.

6. Light switches and fixtures

Chandeliers and lamps are prone to dust carpets and are very easy to forget during a cleaning routine – either because they are up high, or because their performance hardly gets affected. The same goes for any light switches. Other than dust, light switches get touched with dirty hands quite often and can be a breeding ground for bacteria.
